MENTORING

A mentor is someone who can listen, support and advise you. Their role is to use their experience to understand a mentee's situation, and offer a fresh perspective to help work towards a successful solution.

THE BENEFITS OF MENTORING

A Fresh Perspective

Mentees have a confidential space for them to discuss and explore what is happening in their life.

Build Confidence

Mentoring can help a mentee feel more settled, and build confidence in the areas they feel most challenging.

A mentor can offer an alternative view to a mentee, through new eyes and with a different focus.

Decision Making

Through mentoring a mentee gets the chance to talk through difficult decisions and the options available.

STAY BRIGHT MENTORING

Stay Bright Mentoring provides support to young people within the workplace, helping them through transitions to build confidence, improve performance and navigate issues and behaviours that may have adverse impacts on their mental health.

Mentoring sessions are one-to-one and each last an hour. These would ideally take place on a weekly basis (at least in the initial stages of the mentoring relationship), and preferably outside the workplace if possible, such as at a nearby café.

Clients sign up to allow the mentees to attend an initial block of six hourly sessions, designed to allow time to build confidence and trust between the mentor and mentee.

The first session has a ‘getting to know you’ focus, where the mentee can share a bit about themselves and their role, find out more about me and my experience, and identify any areas that they may want to discuss in future sessions (although these may not be clear to them as yet).

By providing a safe and confidential space for the mentee, these sessions will complement more goal-based support provided by a line manager or head of department.
